I’ve been thinking a lot about nature these days and when I drew this I decided to have it printed as a limited edition art print. I love a picture that tells a story without any need for words. In that way art is not limited by language. So this is the result. The Bear. I hope you like it.

New Wall Art for Sea Swimmers
There’s something about sea swimming that brings you back to your childhood. At least this is the case for me. Yesterday I went swimming in Kinvara and it was pretty wild with waves that were bigger than usual for the sheltered beach I go to. It was freezing but it was great fun! Whatever is in your head before you jump in is almost left in the waves when you get out. It’s so good for the head and there’s the social side of it too which is great – like a camaraderie of madness!
I’m always struck by the grey green of the sea in winter, and the striking contrast of the swimming caps and swimsuits of the women. I’ve just launched a brand new series of wall art which is A4. It’s important to me that it’s an eco friendly product so every print comes with an eco friendly backing board and is wrapped in a biodegradable cello. Each one is signed by me. They’re so colourful and are perfect for sea swimmers, especially on those darker days.
I hope you like them.
Rebranded, New Look Website
Things were quieter than usual during the lockdown. In some ways it was nice to step back and enjoy the less frantic way of life. I’m lucky as I live in the Irish countryside so I enjoyed taking time watching birds building their nests and becoming more aware of birdsong with the reduced traffic noise. The highlight was frogs – an abundance of frogs hatched close to the house and surrounded the back of the house at night!
The extra time gave me a chance to get back to drawing and painting and revisiting art mediums like pastels. There are a lot of new designs and art on the website and I decided to showcase my art.
I didn’t want to confuse things by having everything under Greeting Cards Ireland so I’ve rebranded as Catherine Dunne. This way, my art and illustrated children’s books can share the limelight!
I hope the website is clear and would value your feedback.
